Feeder to headline Wickerman

WICKERMAN Fest-ival fans have waited long enough for a tit-bit of information on the line-up for the 10th annual event - and we can reveal the initial score in The Gazette today.

To help celebrate a decade of musical revelry in Bonnie Gallowa’, Feeder, Echo and The Bunnymen, The Hoosiers, Utah Saints and Craig Charles are just a few of the acts confirmed to join more than 20,000 fans on our doorstep in July.

Chart regulars Feeder will headline the Summerisle Stage on the Saturday with their top-five hits such as Buck Rogers and Tumble and Fall.

The band’s lead singer and guitarist Grant Nicholas said: “The Wickerman Festival’s reputation precedes it as being one of the most diverse in the UK. This will be our first ever appearance and we’re honoured to be headlining the main Summerisle Stage in their tenth year. Even better, playing on the Saturday night is an added bonus as it means we’ll get to stay on and watch the Wickerman burn.”

Further main stage highlights will be Echo and The Bunnymen, who have enjoyed a career spanning over 30 years, and The Hoosiers, whose current album Bumpy Ride was released this week.

The DJ and actor will make his debut with the Craig Charles Funk and Soul Club, who will perform the set that follows the famous Saturday night Wickerman burning, with further stand-out performances planned for veteran Scottish pop group The Bluebells, Wickerman favourites The Dangleberries and Edinburgh newcomers The Stagger Rats.

Other names include The Damned, Spunge and From The Jam in the Scooter tent, who will head up the ever popular Scooter Tent with King Kurt, Spunge and Department S also on the bill. While Utah Saints and Riva Starr are two of the headline DJs performing in Bass Camp Dance Village with a whole wealth of talent still to be announced.

The festival has come a long way since its first outing which welcomed just 1,800 people. Now, more than 20,000 Wickerfans have passed through the gates of the farm - and long may it continue with bumper line-ups such as the 2011 register.

The festival takes place on Friday, July 22 and Saturday, July 23, at East Kirkcarswell Farm, near Dundrennan, Kirkcudbright. Visit www.thewickermanfestival.co.uk or skiddle.com for more information and tickets.
