The Galloway gazette continues its Scottish election preview by putting the spotlight on Scottish Liberal democrat candidate for Galloway and West Dumfries, Andrew Metcalf.
Mr Metcalf said: “If elected I promise to be a strong, distinctive voice for our area.
“Galloway can’t afford to have another five years of SNP rule from Edinburgh. Our public services can’t afford to lose yet more local control and our young people can’t afford to see yet more public sector jobs move to the Central Belt. Scotland can’t afford to spend another five years working up to a second independence referendum.
“Liberal Democrats want to make Scotland the best again. We would invest £500m to transform education and stop Scotland slipping down international exam league tables. We would tackle the challenges facing the NHS, with a focus on supporting our local GPs and mental health services, and we would put protection of the environment at the heart of everything we do.
“However you vote in the constituency election, I hope you will consider giving the Liberal Democrats your second, regional vote. Our top two regional candidates, Jim Hume and Kris Chapman, would make an excellent team. Jim would be a strong, experienced voice, with a wealth of experience in farming and rural affairs as well as a successful health campaigner. Kris would be a young, enthusiastic voice for the rural south.”
