Drunk threatened to burn house

A drunk man who threatened to burn down a house in Whithorn was fined £300 at Stranraer Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

Scott Lyons, 45, now living in Wales, admitted causing a breach of the peace when shouting and swearing and uttering threats at Cathkin, Park Lane, on February 5.

Deputy procurator fiscal Gemma Hinds told the court that, at about 9pm, witnesses saw the accused, who had been drinking, and others shouting and banging on the windows of the house. Lyons was then heard to shout: “I’ll burn your ******* house down.”
