Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary began Operation Dulcet on Monday 4 February with an aim to target those who are actively involved in the supply of illegal drugs in the region.
Part of the operation has been focusing on those involved in the cultivation and supply of cannabis. The operation is force-wide and has so far seen seven homes searched in Dumfries and Stranraer, with nine people searched and 14 drug related offences coming to light. Drugs with a street value of over £7000 have been seized, and include heroin, cannabis and diazepam.
Detective Inspector Mark Carruthers of the force’s Drug Squad said: “Operation Dulcet is an intelligence-led operation following information received from those living in our communities who have a concern about the scourge of illegal drugs in their neighbourhood.
“We commend the public for their assistance and would ask them to keep it up. Working together we can make a difference in our communities. Operation Dulcet will continue through February and anyone who wants to pass on information can call us on 0845 600 5701, or is preferred, anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
