Double lifeboat call-out

PORTPATRICK and Stranraer Lifeboats were launched last Saturday in a joint operation to rescue a yacht in difficulty near Corsewall Point.

The RNLI lifeboats were launched at 11.47am to assist a 34-ft yacht with one person aboard, which was drifting due to engine failure about four nautical miles west of the Point. The stricken vessel was located by the Portpatrick all weather lifeboat at 12.29pm, and was taken under tow around Corsewall Point and into Loch Ryan.

The Portpatrick lifeboat was met by the Stranraer inshore lifeboat near to Lady Bay in Loch Ryan, where the tow was transferred to the Stranraer lifeboat, which took the vessel to its berth at Stranraer marina where it was tied up at 15.50pm.
