ON Friday 25th March over 300 primary school children from the Machars took part in a Cross Country Challenge organised by Penninghame Primary.
The children could choose from a Have a Go Half Mile, Hilly Half Mile or the Mighty Mile over the fields at Bladnoch.
Primary 5-7 pupils excelled themselves as they challenged themselves in the warm spring sunshine.
Everyone received a Machars Cross Country badge. Certificates and race numbers were kindly provided by JB Print.
To finish the morning there was a keenly contested Inter-School relay for some friendly inter-school rivalry. Port William Primary retained the trophy with Wigtown a close second and Penninghame completing the podium.
Head Teacher, David Tyson, would like to thank the Leisure and Sport staff, schools and Wigtownshire Agricultural Society and Newton Stewart Rugby Club for their help with organisation and to the children for the enthusiastic and friendly way they took part in the event.
