Police Scotland report that lambs and bullocks reported stolen from a farm at Barrachan, Newton Stewart on Monday 14 November have now been recovered safe and well.

Enquiries are still ongoing into the reason for their disappearance from the fields they were contained in.

The livestock consisted of 49 Texel lambs, about seven months old, two Jersey bullocks, three Friesian bullocks and a Swiss red bullock.

Sergeant Greg Hawker at Newton Stewart said: “We are asking the public to be alert to any suspicious activity in the countryside and to report it at the time through the 101 number.”

Last week around 40 sheep were stolen from a farm at Awhirk, Stranraer.

They were stolen from a number of fields sometime between 30 September and 25 October.

The sheep are Texel hogs and have either a red or orange shoulder with white faces. They are valued at around £3000.
