Police in Stranraer are investigating after a fire was started against the door of a flat in Corsewall Crescent in the town.

The occupant of the flat awoke at 4am yesterday morning (Thursday, April 12) and found items had been set on fire outside his the front door. He was able to extinguish the fire and Police were contacted.

Sergeant Stephen Judge based in Stranraer said: “Starting a fire outside the front door of a flat is a completely reckless and dangerous act which could have had very serious consequences. Thankfully the occupant has been able to put the fire out fairly quickly and it has not spread.

“I would ask anyone with any information to contact Stranraer Police Station immediately on the 101 number.”
