Creetown Silver Band hosted a concert with Tonic Solway Singers at The Cinema at Newton Stewart last Sunday.
The programme had something for everyone from the band’s Slaidburn Overture to New York, New York (made famous by their recent hit at The Wickerman!) to the singers’ Swing Low Sweet Chariot to The Teddy Bears’ Picnic. Cornet player, Kyle Fitzsimmons, played the lovely solo “Wiederkehr” (The Return) which was appreciated by a well attended audience. So, if you are kicking yourself at missing all this and much, much more, you can hear the band again next Sunday 28th Sept, 7pm at Gatehouse of Fleet Parish Church. They are playing for the Jimmy Gilmour Memorial Concert and will include many pieces from this same programme.
