A MAN caught jumping a high security fence in order to help himself to scrap wood in Stranraer was sentenced to 110 hours of community payback this week.
Stuart McCreadie, 25, of Agnew Crescent in the town was spotted by security guards clambering into a derelict site on John Simpson Avenue at around 9.30am on May 8. Defence agent Jocelyn Aitken said McCreadie had been looking for bits of wood to build a shed.
She said: “This wasn’t a new building site - it was derelict. Dare I say it, it was within local knowledge that people were helping themselves to bits and pieces from here which my client thought was a dump.”
