A busy community hub in Dumfries and Galloway are cock-a-hoop to learn they’ve just been awarded £105,000 from the National Lottery.
Isle Futures group will use the funding to enhance the services available from their community hub, the redeveloped St Ninian’s Hall in the Isle of Whithorn.
The centre already hosts a range of local clubs including an arts group and ‘Machars Movies’ - Scotland’s southernmost cinema. The group will now be able to provide more classes, events, and regular activities as well as providing transport to elderly residents who live further from the centre.
Announcing the grants, Maureen McGinn, Big Lottery Fund Scotland Chair, said: “Thanks to National Lottery players, this £2 million investment will reach into communities across Scotland and transform the lives of local people. Each of these inspiring projects will assist people at the times when they need most support, providing them with the tools, confidence and skills to work towards a more positive future.”
