Claims over yes campaign “hijacking” saltire

Local Labour activists have claimed the yes campaign has attempted to hijack the Scottish saltire during the referendum campaign.

The Scottish Labour Party unveiled the new poster they are urging No Voters to display which says ‘We Love Scotland - That’s why we are voting No Thanks.’ highlighting, according to them, that no side “has a monopoly of patriotism during the referendum campaign”.

Dumfries and Galloway MP Russell Brown said: “I am sure every nationalist loves Scotland but not everyone who loves Scotland is a nationalist. The SNP don’t have a monopoly on patriotism and that’s why we have launched our latest poster campaign. We are working tirelessly between now and the 18th of September to make sure the country we love, Scotland, continues to get the best of both worlds: a Scottish Parliament which controls things like schools and hospitals and will get even more powers, while keeping the strength and security that goes with being part of the UK. “
