Chill in the air proves autumn has arrived

A change in the weather this week has left Galloway residents reaching for their scarves as a definite autumnal chill hit the air after months of warm and humid conditions.

And it seems the cooler weather is here to stay, as the forecast shows temperatures around avergae for this time of year - hovering between eight and 12 degrees.

Some rain is also forecast, though as we near the one-year anniversary since the torrential downpours which flooded Galloway last November, we aren’t yet being warned of a repeat.

Although too early to have confidence in forecasts for a white Christmas, some weather experts are predicting nothing more than a 20 percent chance of snow for Scotland in December. they say this is based on the cyclonic weather we had early in the month, which is historically followed by milder weather.
