Award-winning chef Mark Greenaway has agreed to complete the lineup at the Wigtown and Bladnoch Food Festival cookery demonstrations during the weekend’s fun of May 24-25.
With a passion for Scottish ingredients, Mark uses only the very best local, seasonal produce, transforming them with modern techniques.
Mark represented Scotland on BBC2’s Great British Menu in 2012 and 2013. He writes a weekly column for the Edinburgh Evening News and writes a fortnightly column for the heraldscotland.com’s Food and Drink section.
Amongst his many awards are a 3 AA Rosettes for Outstanding Cuisine and a ‘Recommended’ in the Good Food Guide 2015.
The organisers said in a statement this week: “We are delighted that Mark has agreed to join us in our celebration of the very best local, seasonal produce. He has given cookery demonstrations at many of the UKs finest food shows; adding The Wigtown & Bladnoch Food festival to this list is indeed an honour.
Three other chefs featuring will include local women – Hillcrest House’s Deborah Firth; Maria Salzmann of Salzmann Catering and Helen Bysouth from House o’ the Hill.
After the success of last year’s food festival organised by the Association of Book Sellers as part of Whisky Month, it was decided to run the event annually but to also grow the event and this year, a number of events to tantalise taste buds are on offer such as cooking demonstrations by the four chefs which will be held on the Sunday.
The food festival will run in the County Buildings, Wigtown with activities for children in the gardens on the Sunday afternoon.
