A major police surveillance operation mounted in the region has resulted in the seizure of drugs worth more than £60,000.

Scott Griffin, 41, of Marine Gardens, Stranraer; Geoffrey Marsden, 52, a prisoner at Dumfries; Philip Walker, 51, from Morecambe; and 33-year-old Paul Jones, from Glenjorrie Avenue, Glenluce, all admitted being concerned in the supplying of cannabis earlier this year.

Police investigations and surveilance found £57,000 worth of the drug in Walker’s home along with thousands of pounds worth discovered at various locations including in a car on the A75.

Marsden, who had previously served a prison sentence was jailed for five years; Walker, who had also previously been in prison on drugs charges was jailed for three years and 10 months; and Griffin and Jones were both given community service orders.
