Glenkens resident Andrew Metcalf has thrown his hat into the ring for May’s council elections.
Andrew, who has lived near Dalry for more than five years, is standing for the Scottish Liberal Democrats in the Castle Douglas and Glenkens ward.
Prior to moving to Dalry, Andrew was a cabinet-maker in Lancashire, where he also served as a district councillor. His wife, Jane, is a nurse in a hospital recovery unit.
Andrew said: “I am delighted to be standing for Dumfries and Galloway Council. As a local resident living in the ward, I believe I have the time, energy and enthusiasm to contribute to the workings of the council. The local authority delivers services which everyone relies on day in and day out and so it is important that we get them right.”
