Busy month for Initiative

It has been a very business month for the Initiative holding its very first AGM with 22 members attending.

Susan McKie, Chair, gave an over view of what has taken place since she, Susan Moffat and Laura Hunter kick-started the Initiative back in to life. We received some very encouraging feedback from our members on the achievements we have made over such a short time. Volunteers put their names forward for up and coming projects at which we are looking and we welcomed three new members to the Executive Committee namely; Linda Woodfold, Yvonne Oflaz and Peter Nizette.

The Hut has been re-christened to better reflect the needs of the community. Now officially The Newton Stewart Centre on Church Street, we are making great progress with the renovation works, and hopeful to be up and running come the beginning of 2016. We would like to take this opportunity to personally thank the following people who have been so generous with their time and their donations in the overall renovations – Newton Stewart Rotary; Howdens Joinery; Frazer Halkett; Ben Lockwood; Jeff Lupton; Crown Paints; David Inglis & Son along with our Contractors Ross Doyle who is overseeing both joinery & plumbing works and Alec Johnstone of Galloway Electrical Supplies. We will make more announcements on the Centre over the next weeks, so please watch this space.

We’ll soon have new public Notice Boards installed which will allow all local groups to advertise their events. We’ll update you on our Facebook page and web site with more information on this.
