Sammy the rainbow snail comes for book week

Sammy the Rainbow Snail
Sammy the Rainbow Snail

An author who connects some of the most famous comic book characters in the world with a small colourful snail will be appearing in Wigtown during Book Week Scotland.

Alan Grant is the writer of comics and graphic novels featuring iconic figures like Batman, Judge Dredd and 2000AD but he’s now written his second book for young children and this one features a rainbow snail.

In the story Sammy proves to be just as heroic, though accidentally, as some of the better known characters in Alan’s long writing career.

The book will be launched at Curly Tale Books, the children’s bookshop previously known as The Box of Frogs, in Wigtown on Sunday November 29 at 2pm.

He will be appearing with the illustrator of the story, Shalla Gray, who also happens to be his daughter.

There will be readings, games and fun activities suitable for primary age children at this free event.

The book is being published by Curly Tale Books and is available through bookshops and on line retailers priced £5.
