Iceland Foods Limited - an apology

On 24 January 2014 we published an article headed ‘Farmers face year of decision’ which contained a quote attributed to Dumfries and Galloway NFUS board chairman, Andrew McCornick, which falsely claimed that Iceland was involved in the horse meat scandal and sold products containing horsemeat in its shops.

We now accept that this claim was entirely untrue and that Iceland was not involved in the scandal. Also we accept that products containing horsemeat have not been sold by Iceland.

We are happy to clarify this matter and apologise unequivocally to Iceland for publishing these false claims.
