A change to Sunday bus services in the Machars will now leave Wigtown residents stranded.
Mid Galloway elected member Jim McColm told the members of Wigtown and District Community Council that the Sunday bus service provided by Stagecoach will not come into Wigtown to pick up passengers. The reason for this, he explained, was “to save time.” The service will also miss out Garlieston and the Isle of Whithorn when travelling from Newton Stewart to Whithorn.
Wigtown residents wishing to use the service will have to walk a mile to Trammonford Park to get uplifted.
Plans for the refurbishment of the public toilets in Wigtown finally came before members at Monday night meeting.
The viewing of the plans came as a shock to the system for some lifelong residents of the County Town were unaware that the block had three toilets not two. The new plans showed the local authority will replace the sanitary ware in all the toilets and the middle toilet will have disabled access. After discussion, the meeting wanted all the units to have disabled access.
