Newton Stewart Burns Club held its AGM in the Creebridge House Hotel recently with a good attendance of members.
The meeting was chaired by Lex Muir, club president, who welcomed all present. Member Wallace Parker opened the meeting with a recitation of “Willie Wastle”. Lex then reflected on how successful this year’s supper had been with 74 attendees. Nomination and election of office-bearers took place with Lex, Martin Emerson and Dominic Frame elected to continue in their respective offices of president, treasurer and secretary for another year.
The club is proposing to hold a St Andrew’s night celebration, for which further discussion will take place at the next meeting on May 8 at 7.30 in the Creebridge House Hotel. Lex urges all members to attend to make the organising of the night a success.
Next year’s supper is already organised for January 25, and will be held again in the Creebridge House Hotel, with the majority of speakers and entertainers already confirmed for the evening.
