Bioblitz hopes to find and record species

Cree Valley Community Woodlands Trust (CVCWT) will be hosting a `Bioblitz’ for the first time this year at Knockman Wood near Newton Stewart.

The event will be held over the evening of Saturday 12th July and throughout the day on Sunday 13th July as part of the Heritage Lottery Funded `Cree Valley Woodland Heritage project’.

A Bioblitz is an event where expert naturalists and members of the public work together to record as many different types of plants and animals as possible in a particular location in a 24 hour period.

A Bioblitz Basecamp will provide a programme of activities taking place during the event, plus maps and recording forms. Experts will be leading guided walks and help to identify species found. Every species recorded counts, so go along and help look.

The bioblitz will be well signposted from Newton Stewart. For more details contact Pete or Linda on 01671 401423 or at or visit or on Facebook.
