Bikes heading for Newton Stewart

NEWTON Stewart will play host to the only street motorcycle show in Scotland this summer.

On August 7, more than 300 motorbikes of all shapes, sizes, styles and ages will descend upon the town for the day as part of the Wheelie Good Bike Show. Bikes will be coming from across the UK and Ireland from clubs such as the Goldwing Riders (Northern Ireland) and many others.

The bikes will take part in a ‘ride-in’ starting from New Galloway to Newton Stewart on Sunday morning, taking in the stunning scenery on the run through the hills and forests. Anybody wishing to take part in this event should visit the website (details below) to book their place as numbers are limited and only those with tickets will be allowed to take part.

Victoria Street will be closed from 9am until 6pm to allow the bikes a place to park. The bikes will line up on one side of the street, with food, drinks, live music and demos all taking place in the town making this a fun day for people of all ages.

There will also be a market in the Riverside car-park, including a farmer’s market, crafts fair and stalls run by businesses from both the local area and further afield. The organizers hope that many local businesses take advantage of what is sure to be a large turnout that will boost their sales. There will also be stalls selling various motorcycle related goods from companies such as Scotspeed and J & L Motorcycles. Scotspeed will be bringing clothing and helmets along with demonstration bikes for display. Several biking organisations will be attending including the the National Association of Bikers with Disabilities and Bike Safe.
