Driving his motorbike at 120mph on the A75 has led to a four-and-a-half year driving ban and a £1000 fine for a Wigtown man at Stranraer Court on Tuesday.
Twenty-eight year-old Alistair McKain, 30 Seaview, admitted driving dangerously on the Euro-route between the Commerce Road junction and the Castle Kennedy weighbridge on June 13 this year, accelerating at speed so his front tyre left the roadway and overtaking when it was unsafe to do so.
A police car had followed the accused that evening.
McKain’s solicitor, Michael Kilkerr, said McKain could give no explanation for his behaviour and could only offer his apologies to the court.
Sentencing, Sheriff Kenneth Robb noted that this was McKain’s second conviction in six years for the same offence and as well as the ban and the fine, he ordered the accused to sit and pass the extended driving test before getting his driving licence back.
