Kirkcudbright is renowned for its full programme of summer fun aimed at locals and visitors, and now the town adds to its reputation by bringing Kirkcudbright On Song.
Set amid Spring Fling weekend, from 24th-26th May, the brand new musical event features gigs and workshops dotted across the town throughout the weekend.
Among the highlights will be an appearance from BBC Radio 2 folk award winner Steve Tilston, who will host a very special workshop on Saturday, May 25. Anderson, McGinty, Webster, Ward and Fisher, the catchily-titled Dundee fivesome, will also be one of the main acts to grace the town. The relatively new band, which only got together two years ago, have already been likened to Mumford and Sons.
Also appearing is the legendary Wizz Jones – a stunning performer and writer of great songs with more than 50 years of experience in the music industry.
There’s also a return to Dumfries and Galloway for one-time frontman of Wolfstone, Ivan Drever.
But from closer to home come names from Bladnoch-based Distilled Records such as Steven Finn, Manchester legend Spider Mike King and Steve Dowling, and also New Galloway-based Beck Goldsmith whose work was featured recently in the promos for the BBC drama The Village.
