Dumfries and Galloway Autism Network is a multi-agency group drawn from Dumfries and Galloway Council and various third sector and voluntary organisations.
Recently, they held two conferences to ask parents and carers affected by autism what they thought was good and what other support they would like to see developed. One of these ideas was more access to information about the services and supports that are available in Dumfries and Galloway.
In response to this, the Autism Network have organised an autism support information event on 24 November in the McMillan Hall at Newton Stewart from 1.30pm until 5.30pm.
Many local and national organisations have been invited to have a stand and anyone can just drop in for a chat, a cup of tea and to get information and advice about a range of services that might help them. This is a free event.
Councillor Jeff Leaver and Chairman of the Education Committee said: “These events will be great opportunities for parents, Carers and people who support people affected by autism to find out what there is available to them in Dumfries and Galloway.”
