Appeal for witnesses after sudden death

Police are appealing for witnesses following the sudden death of a local man in Castle Douglas.

Robert Kirk, 61, from the town took unwell and fell outside the Wilkinsons store on Cotton Street at 11am on Thursday 2 January. Ambulance assistance was sought and he was taken to DGRI and thereafter the Western General in Edinburgh where he later died on Friday 17 January.

There are no suspicious circumstances in the death and a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal. Police are still keen to speak to anyone who was in the Cotton Street area around the time Mr Kirk took unwell. Anyone who was in the area or saw the incident is asked to contact police on 101.
