Drainage problems at Newton Stewart’s 3G football pitch have not been fixed despite contractors carrying our works last week to relieve the problem which led to the cancellationof football games.
The all-weather pitch was rendered unuseable after waterlogging left it a soggy mess.
Council staff called in the contractors as a matter of urgency but Galloway Thistle Football teams were unable to play on Saturday as the problem returned.
Facilities manager Karen Brownlie said the works did fix the problem until the next downpour.
She saiddespite heavy rain, the pitch should not be flooding the way it is.
She added that the council’s property and architectural services have now contacted the contractors again to update them of the recent situation and seek further advice.
