The Zoo bus was in Newton Stewart today to help primary school kids learn about nature and their environment.
The bus visited Minnigaff and Penninghame Primary Schools on its year long ‘Wild about Scotland’ tour of Scotland.
Wild about Scotland is a new Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS) partnership with Clydesdale Bank. The project delivers an outreach programme on Scotland’s natural habitat, via a bespoke double-decker bus. The bus has been fully converted to provide a unique and inspiring teaching space for schoolchildren, and provide curriculum led lessons delivered by the Royal Zoological Society for Scotland (RZSS) Education team. The Wild about Scotland bus is on a mission to travel the length and breadth of Scottish communities engaging children with Scotland’s wonderful natural habitats and native species. The main objective is to provide fun, practical lessons that fully compliment the National Curriculum for Excellence to connect children to the nature in their own backyard with a view to creating a lifelong appreciation and respect for Scotland’s wildlife and the important it plays on wider conservation issues affecting not just Scotland but our planet overall.
