The Galloway Gazette has a signed copy of a new mystery novel from a Kirkcudbright based author to give away.
‘A Sensible Woman’ is Glasgow-born former journalist Fiona Cameron’s fifth novel, but the first one to be set locally.
At the heart of the story is local gallery owner Mabel Mountjoy, looking for ways to free herself from the millstone round her neck; her former lover, the artist Roddy McCulloch. But when Roddy disappears suddenly, with no explanation, Mabel’s worried rather than relieved - particularly when her home in Kirkcudbright is targeted by a series of mysterious break-ins.
Since the police don’t appear to be taking Roddy’s disappearance very seriously, Mabel calls in a private investigator - but this has consequences beyond anything she had imagined, particularly once she finds herself being accused of culpable homicide.
An unconventional and touching love story interwoven with a gripping whodunnit mystery.
‘A Sensible Woman’ is available in both print and e-book versions via Amazon, and the print edition is also stocked by local bookshops.
