It was red letter day for the children of Whauphill last Saturday with the grand opening of the new play park beside the village hall.
A group of around 50 kids plus mums and dads watched as Sharon Cameron cut the ribbon to declare the park open.
Sharon was instrumental in getting funding from the Big Lottery of £61,693 to secure the project.
The work was then undertaken by HAGS SMP and the project manager was local architect Hazel Smith.
Hazel said: “As architect and project manager I’ve been closely involved with the Whauphill community association over the past three years, to bring this project to fruition and I am delighted with the transformation! It’s wonderful to see this new Playpark being enjoyed by so many families from all around, as well as those in Whauphill.”
Whauphill Community Association spokesperson Fiona Marshall said: “This is a tremendous achievement for Whauphill and will benefit not just the children in the village but for miles around as well.”
