Tourism and Arts to be discussed at Community Meeting

As part of Dumfries and Galloway Council’s commitment to public involvement, a Wigtown Area Committee (Community) Meeting has been arranged to update the community on tourism and arts in the Wigtownshire area.

Officers from the council’s economic development business and enterprise team, Visitscotland, the chamber of the arts and arts commission will be in attendance to provide information on the impact of the tourism strategy in the Wigtown area including opportunities to further develop arts, food, tourism, business and culture to help attract visitors to the area; and the work being undertaken through the Dumfries and Galoway Chamber of the Arts in the Wigtown area including the arts commission.

Chair of the Council’s Wigtown Area Committee, Marion McCutcheon said: “We are delighted to be able to bring two very interesting and relevant topics to a local community meeting for discussion and we hope that the members of the public and all interested parties will take the opportunity to come along and listen to the presentations and ask questions.”

The meeting will take place on Thursday 2 July at the Ryan Leisure Centre, Stranraer, starting at 6.30pm.

Members of the public are encouraged to attend and will have the opportunity to ask questions.
