Primary Schools in Dumfries & Galloway have just two weeks left to practice for this year’s Xmas Factor Primary Schools carol singing competition.
The popular festive contest is organised by Gretna Gateway Outlet Village and West Sound and is open to all Primary Schools in the region, who can compete for a special trophy and a cheque for £500.
The deadline for the first round of the competition is Tuesday 8 November, by which date the schools should have submitted a recording of their choir singing one of a choice of eight carols.
A judging panel initially shortlists ten entries from all those received and this list is put to a public vote to decide which five schools will compete for the top prize in the live Grand Final at Gretna Gateway on Sunday 11 December. The current title-holders are Kirkcudbright Primary School.
Lisa McNab, Gretna Gateway said; “We know that pupils across the region have been practising hard since the new term began so we want to remind schools about our 8 November deadline. We’re greatly looking forward to hearing this year’s entries and to showcasing the ten best carols on West Sound and hearing which five schools the listeners decide to send to the Grand Final on 11 December.”
The public will be able to listen to and vote for the top ten entries in this year’s Xmas Factor competition from Monday 14 – Sunday 20 November at www.westsoundradio.com.
