A booklet of photographs and text depicting the long and fascinating history of Glentrool has been published by a keen amateur photographer.
‘The Glen’ by John Lindsay features pictures of the glen in all its atmospheric glory by John, Shona Hastie, Mark McKie and Derek Walker. Many tales of the area, including Bruce’s battles with the English, come from local author and historian Jack Hunter, who was recently awarded the British Empire Medal.
There is also a warm tribute to Glentrool’s best known shepherd, the late Willie Lawrie, whose knowledge of both Blackface sheep and the terrain of Glentrool was unsurpassed.
The booklet, John’s second, was printed by J&B Print, and is available now at Morris’ Newsagents in Newton Stewart and all Forestry Commission outlets.
