President Sue Grimes opened the meeting with a small amount of WI business, including asking members to confirm whether they would be joining the summer trip to the Kelpies in June.

The meeting was then handed to Stephen and Marian Byrne who enthralled us all with their knowledge, and skills, in the world of miniature books. Stephen talked us through the history of the miniature book, including some wonderful examples of books from his collection. From the smallest shopping list any of us ladies had ever seen, to a story that will make us all think of Moby Dick with a smile! The presentation then moved to their current work of making and illustrating miniature books, and also their involvement with the Miniature Book Society. Stephen and Marian work together to create some wonderful pieces of art with different bindings, materials, and means of illustration for their books. A thoroughly enjoyable evening was concluded with a cuppa served by Janet Trotter and Kate Skinner. Competitions: A handmade bookmark – 1, Mrs McGuinness; 2, Miss Skinner; 3, Mrs Parker; Three chocolate biscuits – 1, Mrs McGuinness; 2, Mrs Parker; 3, Mrs Grimes
