A number of children met in Glebe Crescent, Newton Stewart play-park recently to help staff from Loreburn Housing Association, and the local authority Community Safety Team to do a litter pick in this area.

The main reason behind the event was to help maintain the area and build relations between the residents and the children who live in this area. Whilst “doing their bit” for the community, everyone enjoyed the opportunity to socialise on a beautiful sunny afternoon.

After the children had worked hard at the litter pick they enjoyed an hour of interactive play from the Ryan centre staff which they all thoroughly enjoyed.

Donna McCulloch Team Leader from Loreburn Housing Association said: “Today was the first of further planned events for Glebe Crescent. I’d like to thank Dumfries and Galloway Council Community Safety Team and The Ryan Centre staff for their assistance with this very successful event. Above all I would like to thank the children for their support they showed for this initiative.”

To round off the afternoon, the children were given crisps and sweets which were gratefully received.
