A LOCAL book publishers are celebrating after the launch of two new books, one in their freshly-launched childrens’s department.
GC Books, based at Bladnoch, saw ‘The Belties of Curleywee Farm’ by local author Jayne Baldwin, illustrated by Pauline James, launched officially at this year’s Wigtown Book Festival and a celebratory evening was held on Saturday at the Creebridge Hotel in Newton Stewart. The book is the first in a series of to be published by Galloway Children’s Books, a new division of GC. The charming story aimed at the under fives features the first adventure for new characters Finlay and Flora the Belted Galloway calves.
Also recently published was ‘A Goose in Galloway’ by Desmond Batley, which looks at the disappearing sport of wildfowling along the Solway and takes in technical data as well as anecdotal memoirs.
