A grant made possible thanks to players of People’s Postcode Lottery will help to build four field shelters for the ponies of a disabled riding group in Stranraer.
The shelters will form a vital part of Stranraer Happy Hooves new site, which they are moving to as soon as possible.
The £5000 grant was awarded to the local group by RDA UK to make sure that more people can benefit from their activities.
“We are absolutely thrilled to be able to purchase our field shelters,” said group volunteer Deborah Millington. “It means that we will be able to move to our new site. Once established there we can increase the number of days that we offer riding, so that more people can ride with us.”
The grant was awarded as part of a nationwide programme by RDA to support local RDA groups who want to expand their activities.
“We were delighted to be able to award a grant to Stranraer Happy Hooves RDA to help with a project that will make a big difference to the overall experience of its riders,” said Ed Bracher, Chief Executive at RDA. “The range of projects we have been able to fund thanks to players of People’s Postcode Lottery demonstrates the creative ways that groups are tackling the growing demand for RDA activities across the UK.”
