Bladnoch based record label Distilled Records bring their Yorkshire ska band Pepperjam to Dumfries and Galloway this month for a series of gigs starting with a headline slot at this years Gatehouse of Fleet music festival on Friday - June 21.
Pepperjam then play at The Pleuchi’s Howff, Dumfries Saturday, June 22, with more gigs waiting to be confirmed as we go to press. Pepperjam released their second album Under The Radar last month on Distilled and have been playing all over the UK ever since with plenty of radio support and rave reviews. PEPPERJAM play an exciting blend of rootsy ska soul based around the lyrics of songwriter Lorry Dowling, (whose acclaimed ‘Loosen Up’ reached the top of the UK indie charts).
Hailing from the post-industrial Pennine valleys between Yorkshire and Lancashire, PEPPERJAM are a seven piece dance band who arranged, produced and perform their entirely original set.
PEPPERJAM are the real deal, as testified by their past histories - James, The Ukrainians, Little Chief, Arcomnia and Laurel Aitken to name a few - and also by their growing army of fans... Pepperjam is a band that gets people on their feet.
Pepperjam is also dance music that you can listen to in the car, or late at night when the soul needs replenishing. There are subtle melody threads and chord structures that seep through your skin without you realising ... a measure of Lorry’s musicality and the band’s natural coherence...
“...inside, Pepperjam were melting the gathered throng with a lava flow of rhythm, and the audience responded with their feet...” (James Brown NME)
“One of the best bands I’ve seen in a while” (Phill Jupitus)
