Chairman Joan Berkley welcomed all members to the meeting, Secretary Helen Bullock has brought her crochet equipment to fill the gap with a talk and display of crocheted items.
A discussion took place concerning knitting of an owl pattern to sell for the Blood Bike Charity who are our speakers for the September meeting, and a question was raised concerning being able to knit another design and not from the designated pattern.
LING has now taken over the charge of the Town Hall but the D&G Council have agreed to maintain the fabric of the building.
Information was given out concerning a competition to make a jar of marmalade for the Federation to enter into “Gardening Scotland on 3rd, 4th, 5th of June. A form was available for members to enter a SWI Education and International committee Photography Proficiency test for Autumn 2016.
The March meeting is the Soup & Sweet Lunch at the Town Hall, and members were asked to donate items for sale, particularly cakes. Details were read out by the Treasurer concerning our duties and items we need to donate for the Bulb Show in Castle Douglas on the 4th & 5th of March. Primrose organised the raffle and Betty judged the competition: Jar of marmalade - 1, for Janet Carlyle; 2, Jenny Repath; 3, Cath; Next meeting: 2pm at the Lower Town Hall.
