Local authors are leading events for children and adults across Galloway during Book Week Scotland.
Join Dumfries and Galloway Libraries during Book Week Scotland (21-27 Nov) for a series of events, activities and giveaways which celebrate how reading exposes us to a world of discovery, exploration and adventure.
The library service is focused on providing the best start in life for our children by creating opportunities in local libraries to inspire primary children to read for pleasure.
Local authors Renita Boyle (Honk Honk Rattle Rattle), Jayne Baldwin (Big Bill Series) and Shalla Gray (The Galloway Chilli) will be hosting a 14 stop roadshow throughout Galloway inspiring school and nursery children with stories, songs and rhymes.
The programme also provides new opportunities for adults to engage with books, libraries and writers with events including bestselling crime authors Tony Black and Craig Robertson, new Scottish authors Lucy Cameron and Shelley Day and poetry with a gathering for the 20th edition of Southlight Magazine.
Booklovers can get involved by voting for their favourite Scottish book to screen adaptation, challenge a friend to take part in a #ReadingDare or finding their perfect book match with a Book Generator.
Those who want to spend the week reading will be catered for with our libraries giving away 2000 copies of Secrets and Confession’s: a compilation of short stories from the Scottish Book Trust.
Events include on Friday 25 November; Victorian Tearoom and Meet the Author. Shelley Day as she introduces her new novel at Stranraer Library Services, North Strand Street, Stranraer from 2:30–3:30pm.
Enjoy the delights of the Victorian Tearoom, a cake decorating demonstration and meet the author.
