Ghostly goings on at the castle

Ghoulish goings-on, dastardly deeds and spine-tingling story telling will reveal some special guests who have been sighted in the gardens once visitors have left for the day and the garden gates are locked!

Ghostly Halloween Tours will run this Saturday 29, Sunday 30 and Monday 31 October and invite visitors to see an entirely different side of the gardens. Creepy costumed characters will portray stories of yesteryear with some of these based on historic happenings such as the burning down of 16th century Castle Kennedy.

The new tours are being run in association with Stranraer Drama Club and can be booked by phoning Castle Kennedy Gardens on 01581 400 225. Separate tours for children and adults will depart the Gardens Tearoom at 6pm, 7pm & 8pm and are priced at £6.50 and £12.00 respectively, including a hot chocolate in the Gardens Tearoom afterwards. Warm clothing is required and participants are asked to bring their own torch (no LED or iphone torches) and to arrive 15 minutes before the event start time.

For those looking for daytime family fun during the remainder of the holidays, the new Pumpkin Trail continues to run between 10am and 4pm until 30 October with hidden pumpkins to be discovered in and around the Walled Garden and Round Pond and tricks and treats along the way! To book contact Castle Kennedy Gardens on 01581 400225.
