The Galloway Fisheries Trust (GFT) will host their annual Kirkcowan Fishing Competition this Saturday (22nd August).
This is a fantastic family event that is supported by the Craighlaw Arms and all of the river beat owners across the Bladnoch and Tarff.
Anglers wishing to fish in the competition should meet at the Craighlaw Arms in Kirkcowan from 8:30 am onwards to enter (£7 adult/ £3 junior) and draw a beat to fish for the day.
The competition closes shortly after 5 pm when anglers gather back at the Craighlaw Arms and prizes are awarded for best fish, best coarse bag and first, second and third junior.
All salmon caught during the day must be returned alive to the water and can be entered into the competition via a digital photo with entry beat card visible.
Similarly, pike larger than 5 lb can be entered into the competition using a digital photo (all pike over 5 lb must be returned).
If you would like more information about the Kirkcowan Fishing Competition, please phone the GFT office on 01671 40 3011.
