The Douglas Ewart High School held a very successful bingo night in school last Friday to raise funds for pupils taking part in the forthcoming decathlon in Dumfries.
They raised £330 and would like to thank Mr Gilmour for calling the numbers and Ms Benkemoun for her assistance also. They then undertook a read-a-thon at Wigtown Book Festival on Saturday when the team of eight took turns reading from Roald Dahls books in various locations throughout Wigtown.
The pupils would like to thank the Book Festival for allowing them to do this and to all who so kindly supported them, they raised another £140 towards their total, including a contribution from the school itself.
They’ve now raised over £1300 and are very much looking forward to competing with other schools from the region in the da Vinci decathlon this week! The winning team gets to travel to Italy next year and compete at the next level against other schools from countries around the world!
