Dumfries and Galloway Council is to continue its support for the cultural sector of the region with a £75,000 arts fund.
Announcing the 2016/17 fund at a civic reception on Tuesday 30 August held to celebrate the importance of the arts, Councillor Ted Thompson, Civic Head of Dumfries and Galloway Council confirmed the opening of the next round of Regional Arts Funding.
This fund is the budget available from the Council’s Strategic Arts budget which is to be used to increase the volume and impact of high quality arts projects for the public and economic benefit of Dumfries and Galloway. The fund will open for applications on 1 September 2016.
Councillor Thompson said; “I am happy to be able to confirm Dumfries and Galloway Council’s continued support for the arts in Dumfries and Galloway. The Council recognises the positive contribution the arts make to our communities and our economy and it is my pleasure to participate in events such as this and meet members of the arts community.”
