A thrilling, open air theatre production of one of Roald Dahl’s best loved tales, Danny the Champion of the World, will be performed at the 16th century castle ruins by Illyria, a high quality, travelling theatre company which presents great family entertainment with funny, intelligent and heart-warming storytelling.

The story of Danny brings to life his close relationship with his father who he discovers has a passion for pheasant poaching on the estate of a nasty, greedy landowner, Victor Hazell. Following a night when Danny’s father doesn’t return, he sets off to rescue him with help from the village, and finds himself to be the mastermind behind the most incredible and exciting plot ever attempted against Victor Hazell!

Bring your own picnic and delight in this wonderful, atmospheric performance presented in the most picturesque of surroundings.

Danny the Champion of the World is a fun, family theatre production which will take place at 5.00pm with the grounds open for picnics from 4.00pm and a marquee provided should the weather be unfavourable. The Tearoom is also available for delicious refreshments and light snacks. Low back chairs, rugs and insect repellent are recommended.
