The Galloway Pageant is in full swing this week in Newton Stewart, leading up to the crowning of the Queen of Galloway tomorrow.
The traditional sashing of the queen elect, Molly Dalrymple, took place last Sunday and pageant stalwart Colin Faulds did the honours.
Molly was accompanied to the ceremony by the 2015 Queen of Galloway, Britney Hill-Sherwin, who has done a great job in the role.
There was fun for all at the sashing, with face-painting proving very popular.
Later in the evening, the match of the day at Blairmount was between the Saints and the Sinners, with the Sinners’ team of local lads beating the Saints’ team of local police officers with a little help from local players.
The baby show and the pet show were well attended, as was the kids disco. There was fun pageant show jumping on Tuesday evening at Calgow, and you can see the results in the sports section.
Today is the teddy bears’ picnic and the fancy-dress parade of decorated floats, plus a horse troop and the highlight of the week, the crowning of the Queen of Galloway in Minnigaff Park at 12.45pm.
