South Scotland list MSP Emma Harper has welcomed the further easing of Covid-19 restrictions in Dumfries and Galloway from Monday (May 17).
The success of the vaccination programme, and high compliance with the various rules and restrictions, has seen continued suppression of the virus.
As a result t he region will move from level 3 to level 2, restoring more normality to everyday lives.
People can now meet in larger groups than before, you can even hug your loved ones, and travel across the UK, while most businesses, facilities and venues can now open with the exception of the likes soft play, funfairs, nightclubs and adult entertainment
Ms Harper said: “Dumfries and Galloway e ntering into leve l 2 restrictions signals the positiv e step forward that we hoped for with some additional easing of restrictions.
“For the first time in many months people will be permitted into each other’s homes with overnight stays possible which I’m sure we have all been looking forward to.
“Many businesses, including entertainment venues, will also be able to open from Monday, I know this will be a positive and exciting time for many and I want to encourage everyone to enjoy the new restrictions, but to do it responsibly and safely.”
