School road safety initiative pops up

On Monday, officers from the Newton Stewart Community Policing Team launched a new road safety initiative with the assistance of Penninghame and St Ninian’s primary schools.

The Pop-up Bairns will be used in joint school traffic patrols

The initiative will feature newly acquired “Pop-up Bairns” which will be used, with the assistance of pupils, in forthcoming joint school traffic patrols.

He said: “With the return to school following the relaxation of Covid restrictions it is important to remind children of the everyday hazards on and around the roads and how to safely navigate them.”
