The school wanted to extend its outdoor learning offering to help cater for the different learning preferences of its students.

The project will also benefit others in the community, with the space being available to local groups and community members.

Principal teacher Katie Bell said: “We were lucky enough to secure funding from NFU Mutual to help us achieve our long awaited outdoor learning space.

“We have been encouraging outdoor learning in all forms since coming back to school and our new outdoor classroom means we can embrace all weathers and still making learning fun!

“We are so grateful that our application has been successful and our small, rural school has had the chance to create the outdoor learning environment that we have always wanted.

“As a whole school community, parents, staff and pupils, we would like to say a huge thank you to all at NFU Mutual and to Alistair Taylor at EcoBenchez for supplying, building and painting our wonderful outdoor classroom.”

NFU Mutual made donations across the UK from its Community Giving Fund to help children return to school with confidence and settle back into a routine.

Beth Pritchard, responsible business consultant, said: “This has been a challenging year for everyone, and our children in particular have had to cope with a lot of change.

“We hope this donation will provide a helping hand to Drummore Primary with supporting the children settle into the new normal and enjoy learning in a different environment.”
